NBA 2006-07 Schedule

The NBA recently released the 2006-07 schedule. There are some very interesting games on the schedule. The NBA is heading into its 61st season and basketball fans around the world are already licking their chops. The new season is just around the corner. The preseason begins October 5th. The first games that count are on October 31stHalloween. There are two great games on the 31stPhoenix at Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago at Miami. It’s title defending time.

On November 1st, we just might get to see the 2006 number 1 draft selection, Andrea Bargnani, in action. The Toronto Raptors are in New Jersey to take on the Nets. Also on the 1st, the Indiana Pacers are in Charlotte to take on the Hornets. Might we see Adam Morrison playing? Many felt that Morrison was the one player in the draft that could provide immediate help to his team. Hopefully, Charlotte will throw him right in so we can see what he’s made of.

November 2nd is going to be a great day. We get to enjoy a rematch of last season’s Texas playoff battle between the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs. The game is in Dallas and will be on TNT at 8pm. The entire month of November is going to be exciting. We will have to see how many rookies get playing time, but November will hopefully provide enough of a glimpse that we can see the future of the NBA. Morrison is one of my favorites.

Another player I am waiting to see is Brandon Roy. He was drafted 6th in the 2006 draft by the Portland Trailblazers. He could be very exciting. Roy is out of the University of Washington, and he gets to go “home” right away. On November 1st, the Portland Trailblazers are in Seattle to play the Sonics. The game tips off at 10pm. Might we see the 2006 10th overall pick by the Sonics, Mouhamed Saer Sene, in at center for a little action? Most likely not, but it would be nice to see why the Sonics drafted Sene 10th.

The match up on everyone’s calendar each season is the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers. In what’s become a tradition, these two teams are meeting on Christmas dayDecember 25th. The game will be on ABC at 2:30pm. It will be another chance for Shaq and crew to show why he was more valuable than Kobe.

Finally, the rematch we all want to see, Dallas against Miami, is going down on January 21st. The game will be at 1pm on ABC. It’s taking place in Miami and the Mavericks should be up for the game. Maybe they can shake off last season’s disastrous meltdown. The 2006-07 NBA season is going to be a blast. Buckle up, it’s almost here.

Traditional Archery And Target Panic Freezing

One day several years ago I began having trouble holding at full draw. Little did I
know at the time but the next two years would be filled with countless hours of
trying to cure a massively frustrating form of target panic. My skill level with a bow
and arrow quickly deteriorated to a point where I could barely get my bow back. I
would shake and flinch uncontrollably while a little voice inside my head would
scream, “Release, release!!!”

I read everything available regarding target panic and shooting technique, and tried
every possible cure with earnest. There were times when I experienced some
success with the methods I read about. I can remember getting to the point where I
could finally hold at full draw. The voice in my head was still there, but it didn’t have
the same power over me. I firmly believed that I was on the right track, and if I just
kept working I didn’t doubt that I was going to conquer my problem. Unfortunately,
just when I started to have thoughts of complete cure and recovery another related
problem developed.

I’d heard of freezing throughout my extensive research but had never experienced it
myself. Freezing could quite possibly be the most frustrating form of target panic. I
was finally able to draw and hold, but now if I tried to bring my bow hand into the
site picture, I would release immediately. It was almost as if someone or some thing
had taken control of my body. I could not seem to hold on target. The only way I
could shoot was to swing my bow across the target picture and time my release.
This is an awful way to shoot. You look like a complete fool while doing it and it’s
only by chance that you make an accurate shot. I’ve heard others comically call this
“drive-by shooting” and the description fits. All you can do is laugh through the
humiliation.

I was finally able to cure my target panic in August of 2002, but not in the manner I
expected. It didn’t happen gradually. I didn’t fix my target panic bit-by-bit over a
period of weeks or months. It happened instantaneously–in a flash of inspiration
while watching my dad shoot his rifle. The result is now called the Push Release cure
and is available on DVD. For more information visit www.PushRelease.com

Nebraska’s Heisman Hero

Like many Heisman Trophy winners before him, Eric Crouch has found out stardom in the college ranks is not a guaranteed ticket to pro football fame and fortune.

Crouch, out of Nebraska, was voted the most outstanding college player in 2001. The Cornhuskers have produced many offensive “greats” but, by the time Crouch left the school, the quarterback had surpassed them all, leaving a trail of new records in the NU books. Among other highs, he is the NU career total offense leader (7,915 yards), holds the record for most career rushing yards by a quarterback, single game total offense record (360 yards), is the touchdown leader (88), and set an NCAA record for most career rushing TD’s by a quarterback (59).

After trials with the Rams, Packers and Chiefs, Eric accepted the NFL consensus he lacked size at quarterback and was sent packing to NFL Europe for the 2005 season as a safety. He didn’t agree. Stepping down from glory is jagged pill to swallow.

Eric Crouch wants to be a professional quarterback.

The Canadian Football League is giving him that chance. He impressed the Toronto Argonaunts enough during an off season trial, he’ll come to camp with a full shot at backing up starter Damon Allen.

Nebraska’s star isn’t the first quarterback of note to get his career in gear playing in the CFL. Wally Moon comes to mind. The Argonauts themselves have had Joe Theisman and 1984 Heisman Trophy winning Doug Flutie at the helm in the past. Eric Crouch isn’t even the first Nebraska Heisman winner to get his start up north. Johnny Rodgers was a first round draft pick in 1973 but he turned down San Diego in favor of Montreal.

Who knows? If things go well for Eric Crouch up there in Toronto, he might never want to come back.
